In 2015, I had the opportunity to be the visual designer for the credit card section of PenFed’s website. We were working on an initiative to improve the member experience by highlighting key product benefits and making the information more scannable as well as incorporate responsive design.
The update significantly helped increase the number of online applications. Year over year, during the same period, applications were up 30%. Note, PenFed was marketing more aggressively during this period. We did notice a significant decrease in bounce rates and individuals spending more time on each page, which was proof that all the work that went into making the update was well worth it.
